Workshop zero : first steps in photography

2h

Is the art of photography captivating, interesting, or simply necessary for you to learn? Do you wish to discover all that this medium has to offer, and the possible images you could create?

But, to your dismay, your camera doesn’t understand you; it taunts you with thousands of options, dials, and buttons of every kind! This damn box refuses to reach its potential, it cannot be controlled!

If this is the case, the workshop zero is here for you. The newest class in our curriculum will guide you through the first steps in photography; using your hands and learning the camera’s design and capabilities, through an overview of the different styles of photography.

Don’t have a camera yet and need some advice before you equip yourself?

No problem! No need for specific photography equipment, using your smartphone is a viable option*; it will allow you to complete most exercises. You will see the world in a new way and receive the valuable advice of a photography instructor for equipping yourself.

Whether you come with a camera or smartphone, the session will last for two hours, during which a professional photographer and instructor will cover the following topics:

- An overview of photographic equipment, the operation of a camera. This also serves to objectively evaluate your equipment needs, based on which type of photography you would like to practice.
- Exercises for the purpose of controlling or beginning to control the aesthetics of photos; in the form of a photographic excursion, each stage of the walk will be dedicated to the creation of a specific image, based on a common photography style (i.e. portrait, landscape, black and white, etc.)
- You can follow these exercises whether you have a camera or simply a smartphone; the discovery of photography and its possibilities must be done with your eyes :)
- The principal ergonomic and automatic settings of the camera
- The vocabulary of photography; discover the meanings of strange terms like “shutter speed,” “depth of field,” and “focal length”
- The defining of your training needs and the continuation of your journey in photography

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to determine for yourself whether you want to continue to explore the wonderful world of photography.
